Manama: In celebration of its Platinum Jubilee, The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) is set to host a prestigious two-day chess event \u2013 the ISB@75 Chess Championship \u2013 on June 19 and 20, 2025 at the Jashanmal Auditorium, Isa Town Campus. Organised under the patronage of the Bahrain Chess Federation and in association with Arjun\u2019s Chess Academy(ACA), the championship aims to promote the intellectual spirit of the game while honouring 75 years of the ISB\u2019s commitment to excellence in education.<\/div>\n
The event will commence on Thursday, June 19, with a free Chess Workshop open to all students and parents. Scheduled from 7:00pm\u00a0 to 8:30pm, the session will be conducted by expert coaches from Arjun\u2019s Chess Academy and will offer an engaging introduction to the fundamentals of chess, its benefits for cognitive development, and strategies to nurture chess learning at home.<\/div>\n
On Friday, June 20, the spotlight will turn to competitive play with the Interschool Team Chess Championship beginning at 9:00am. The tournament will be held in two categories \u2013 Under 12 and Under 19 \u2013 with schools invited to field multiple four-member teams. There is no entry fee for this segment, and all matches will follow FIDE Rapid Rules using a Swiss league format. Trophies and certificates will be awarded to the top three teams in each category.<\/div>\n
The celebration of strategy and skill will culminate in an Open Rapid Chess Tournament commencing at 3:00pm on the same day. Open to chess players of all age groups, this segment will feature seven rounds of play, with a time control of 10 minutes plus 3 seconds per move. An entry fee of 2 BD per player applies for Open Rapid Chess. Attractive prizes will be awarded across various categories, and the top 10 players will receive recognition. All rounds will be conducted in accordance with FIDE guidelines. The last date for registration for all categories is June 18, 2025.<\/div>\n
The ISB@75 Chess Championship is poised to become one of the most exciting and inclusive chess events in the Kingdom.<\/div>\n
