Manama: The waiting list for cochlear implant surgeries at Salmaniya Medical Complex has been cleared, announced Dr Maryam Al Jalahma, CEO of government hospitals. She attributed this achievement to the collaborative spirit and professionalism of the team, which has pulled together and stepped up the treatment experience for patients in Bahrain.
Dr Al Jalahma assured that they will continue to perform cochlear implant surgeries for any new cases requiring surgical intervention in government hospitals. Dr Hazem Al A’Ali, General Manager of Surgical Services at Government Hospitals, remarked that this milestone is part of an ongoing initiative to improve the quality and efficiency of medical services, thereby strengthening the health system for both citizens and residents.
He noted the importance of cochlear implant surgeries for patients with hearing loss and the profound impact these operations have on patients and their families. The cochlear implant team includes surgeons, consultants, audiology and balance specialists, speech therapists, a social researcher, and a psychologist.
