Manama: The Indian School, Bahrain (ISB), is set to celebrate a significant milestone in its journey, marking its 75th anniversary this year. As part of the celebrations, a series of events will be held to honour the school’s rich history, achievements and its enduring commitment to the community. The celebration details were announced by the school during a press conference held on Saturday. The inaugural ceremony for this historic event will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the school’s Isa Town campus, where the exclusive Platinum Jubilee logo will be unveiled. The opening event will kick off a series of exciting activities, including a variety of competitions, workshops, and cultural programmes throughout the year.
In his announcement, ISB Hon. Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese shared, “Our school is home to students from 18 nationalities, representing every state and union territory of India, creating a unique blend of cultures. As part of the celebrations, students will showcase a wide range of art forms from different Indian states, reflecting the cultural diversity of our nation.” One of the key highlights of the celebrations will be the Aalekh Painting Contest, a major event to be held at the Isa Town campus, where students from 75 schools across the Gulf will showcase their artistic talents. Additionally, workshops to develop students’ artistic skills, including poster design and creative writing contests, will be organized.
The Education Conclave will bring together leading educators and experts to discuss the latest trends and developments in the education sector. Other exciting events include quiz contests, inter-school competitions for students, teachers, and parents, as well as community sports events aimed at fostering teamwork and encouraging active participation from parents.
A Literary Festival is also planned, which will see a book exhibition in 75 languages, to celebrate the diversity of languages and cultures. One of the most anticipated spectacles of the year will be a record-setting dance performance at the National Stadium, where students will perform 75 different dance forms representing the cultural heritage of India.
A Global Alumni Meet will be organized to strengthen the bond between the school and its alumni, with an invitation extended to former students to register via a Google form circulated through the media. The alumni meet will be an important occasion to discuss how alumni can continue to support and contribute to the growth of the school.
As part of the celebrations, new infrastructure development projects in the Isa Town campus are planned, further enhancing the school’s legacy. The Platinum Jubilee Organizing Committee, led by former chairman Prince S. Natarajan, and the Patron Committee, headed by prominent businessman and community leader Mohammad Hussain Malim, will collaborate closely with the school team to ensure the success of ISB’s 75th anniversary celebrations. Together, they will coordinate a series of events and initiatives throughout the year, striving to create a memorable and impactful celebration that honors the school’s legacy and fosters community engagement.
The school will also host a cultural fair, engaging the entire community in the celebrations, with active participation from parents, teachers, and students. Throughout the year, the school will be beautifully decorated to reflect the jubilant spirit of the occasion, featuring a wide range of educational, cultural, and skill-development programmes designed to engage both students and the broader community. All these events will be organised with the necessary approval from the concerned authorities.
